The drive axle is a mechanism located at the end of the power train that can change the speed and torque from the transmission and transmit them to the drive wheels. The drive axle is generally composed of the main reducer, differential, wheel transmission device, and drive axle housing. The steering drive axle also has a constant velocity universal joint. In addition, the drive axle also needs to withstand vertical forces, longitudinal and lateral forces, as well as braking torque and reaction forces acting between the road surface and the frame or body of the vehicle.
The drive axle is located at the end of the power transmission system, and its basic function is: ① to transmit the engine torque transmitted by the universal transmission device to the driving wheels through the main reducer, differential, half shaft, etc., to achieve speed reduction and torque increase; ② Changing the direction of torque transmission through the bevel gear pair of the main reducer; ③ By using a differential, the differential between the two wheels ensures that the inner and outer wheels turn at different speeds; ④ Load bearing and torque transmission are achieved through the axle housing and wheels
